Veneers consist of a facing of material usually made of porcelain which is made to fit over the front of teeth.

Veneers are usually mainly in situations where the dentist wants to improve the cosmetics of the teeth due to for instance discoloration of teeth, to correct mild crowding or close gaps with the minimum of dental intervention.

Veneers can either be made directly in the surgery but more usually in the dental laboratory following preparation of the tooth by the dentist.

Compared to a crown relatively little tooth tissue is removed which is an advantage.
